Sydney Link is a series of major transport projects, including a North West Metro, an M4 Extension, the South West Rail Link and possible future metro to the West and the South East.

Metro Link is a key part of Sydney Link. It will transform Sydney’s public transport with a number of metro rail lines, the first of which is the North West Metro.

The Sydney region contains over 4 million people and is expected to grow to 5.3 million by 2031. A key challenge for Sydney as it grows is to ensure it retains and improves its liveability by promoting sustainable transport.

Meeting future transport challenges will require a greater focus on cross regional transport and on servicing Sydney’s existing and emerging strategic centres. Improvements in service frequency, reliability and passenger comfort must also be made a priority if public transport is to continue to attract more users.

A new approach in transport infrastructure and servicing is needed if Sydney is to maintain its reputation as one of the most liveable cities in the world and to encourage social and economic development.

The Sydney Link proposals have been developed in the context of the NSW Government’s State Plan priorities, including the need to increase public transport journeys to work – both to the City and across the Sydney Region.

Sydney Link is the future of Sydney’s transport.
